Behind Blue Lenses is the fifth work in the series Everything Happens for a Reason,a personal visual journal of psychotherapy structured around three fundamental pillars: recognition,acceptance, and healing. Each piece in the series explores a distinct theme that emerged during conversations with the artist’s psychiatrist,transforming internal dialogue into symbolic, layered visual language.This work focuses on what often becomes
both the beginning and the end of many struggles in contemporary life:mental health. As someone living with mental illness, the artist attempts to shed the weight of stigma and to normalize the presence of mental disorders as a common reality rather than an exception.Navigating the delicate boundary between who you are and what your illness is becomes a constant challenge,because the disorder inevitably permeates thoughts, perceptions,reactions, and daily life. It becomes intertwined with identity, shaping the way one moves through the world.In the painting, this internal experience manifests as an overlapping pandemonium of thoughts and emotions. The intense blue palette, recurring symbolic motifs, and scattered fragments of text echo the chaos,heaviness, andfragmentation that characterize the inner landscape of mental illness. Behind Blue Lenses visualizes the struggle for clarity,self-understanding,and acceptance within a mind where everything overlaps,blurs, and floods simultaneously.
