Beautiful Ladies VIII/ Green Lady 2024

This artwork portrays an older woman standing confidently, dressed in a vivid, patterned green dress adorned with floral and botanical motifs. Her oversized glasses, bold earrings, and large circular necklace combine elements of nostalgia with a distinct contemporary sensibility. Although her clothing evokes the aesthetic of the 1970s, the design has been created in the present day, bridging past and present in a way that reflects how memory shape’s personal identity.
The piece belongs to the Beautiful Ladies series, a body of work in which each woman presents her true self, her identity, her memories, her cultural and emotional landscape. Through these portraits, the series subtly yet powerfully asserts that “being a woman isn’t a stereotype.” Dressing according to one’s cultural background, formative era, or cherished memories is not an act of conformity to a stereotype, but rather an expression of individuality and authenticity.
The woman depicted here becomes a symbol of everyday women who strive to break free from imposed labels and embrace their age, roots, experiences, and personal history. Her gentle posture, the expressive lines shaping her face, and the richly patterned surface of her dress speak to a life lived fully and unapologetically.
The technique combines strong linear drawing, saturated color fields, repetitive motifs, and symbolic elements. The background, rendered in soft greens with loosely sketched furniture, allows the figure to stand out, suggesting that her presence and story transcend the confines of her environment. The visual vocabulary enhances the essence of the piece: a woman who refuses to be simplified or categorized, presenting instead a layered identity shaped by memory, culture, and lived experience.
